Is Skinread a medical product?
No. Skinread provides a cosmetic read on how your skin looks. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. For medical concerns, see a qualified dermatologist.
Where do my photos go?
Your face images are sent to Google Gemini (Google LLC) to analyze your skin and generate your results, and may be processed on servers outside the EU (including the United States). Messages you send the in-app AI coach are also sent to Google Gemini to generate replies. Your voice recordings are sent to Deepgram for transcription. Your scan results are stored locally on your device. We can't guarantee how long these providers retain data sent for processing — see our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Do you sell my data? What about ads?
We never sell your data, and your photos, skin data, voice and AI coach chats are never used for advertising. To measure our own ads, we share limited usage data (like whether you installed Skinread after seeing an ad) with Meta and TikTok — never your photos, skin data, voice or coach chat. You control this through Apple's App Tracking Transparency. See our Privacy Policy.
Can I delete my data?
Yes — any time. You can delete your scans and account from within the app with a one-tap delete-all, or request deletion by email. See Data deletion.
How accurate is the analysis?
Skinread gives cosmetic estimates based on a photo, so results vary with lighting, angle and image quality. Treat scores as helpful indicators and trends — not precise measurements.
Does it cost money?
Skinread offers an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple account. You can manage or cancel any time in your App Store settings.
